The Buffalo Bills have trashed the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium, recording their 12th win of the year, 38-9.

Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs were phenomenal once again, and it seems that these two guys aren’t getting enough credit for their performances. Allen had four touchdown passes and 320 yards through the air, hitting Diggs in the end zone three times.

The Bills wide receiver had 145 yards on nine receptions, harassing the Patriots who were swept against the franchise from Buffalo for the first time since 1999.

Allen and Diggs are the main reason for the Bills’ 12-3 record. Sean McDermott’s crew has solid chances of securing the No.2 spot in the AFC, but they need to defeat the Dolphins next week to do that.

The guests had all but one drive with points during the first half, scoring a field goal on the opening one, and having three straight TDs after that. New England tried to be competitive, making some responses for a while, but the hosts went on a break with a 24-9 deficit.

Bill Belichick decided to pull out Cam Newton during the third quarter, with the former MVP struggling heavily to develop a passing game. Super Cam was 5-for-10 for miserable 34 yards. He did post one rushing TD on four runs for 24 yards, which was his 12th running score this year, a franchise record.

Jarret Stidham wasn’t much better, 4-for-11 for 44 yards.

The Patriots had 11 first downs and 48 total plays even though having just one drive fewer than the Bills. The big question mark stands above Newton’s name, with the team experiencing the worst record since the year 2000 under his leadership. Tonight’s 34 passing yards are the fewest for one Pats’ starting QB in the last 27 years.

New England (6-9) hosts the Jets next Sunday, in the closing game of this disappointing campaign. According to Belichick, Newton should start that match.

Lee Smith and Zack Moss both had one TD for the Bills besides Diggs, Smith by the air, and Moss on the ground. The match against the Dolphins will be very tough because the team from Miami needs a win to secure its playoff berth. The Fins are looking very solid over the past few weeks, which is why many believe that this matchup is the most interesting in the entire Week 17.
