The Lakers started the season 1-5, losing their first five games under the guidance of first-year head coach Darvin Ham. Russell Westbrook led the Lakers in scoring with 18 points. The Los Angeles Lakers were the only team left in the NBA without a victory.

Ham rejoiced in the victory alongside the rest of his squad in the locker room, where he was showered with water to mark the occasion.

Ham remarked that we had an obligation to demonstrate something to ourselves. Not to the outside world and not to the press. We had to demonstrate it to ourselves first. What we did throughout the game in response to the opposition was fantastic.

Westbrook again came off the bench and seemed fine with it, helping the Lakers seal the victory with a late basket that scored 117-106.

During the third quarter, he raised his arms to bring spectators to their feet, and they did as he requested. Westbrook has been quite forthright about his willingness to do whatever it takes to contribute to the team’s success.

The Nuggets (4-3) were victorious in four of their previous five games and two in a row before Sunday’s defeat. Nikola Jockic led the team in scoring 23 points, and Jamal Murray contributed a season-high 21 points for the Nuggets.

After Lonnie Walker IV drove the baseline for a slam and Austin Reaves scored a 3-pointer from the top of the arc, the Lakers took a 113-100 lead at that point in the game. Their most crucial season information came when they had a 13-point advantage.
