Garcia’s (21-0, 18 KOs) left hook to the body delivered the fatal blow for Campbell (20-4, 16 KOs), who didn’t have any chance to get up following that hit. According to the Englishman’s words at the press, Garcia’s shot “was the hardest” he’s been ever hit with. It seems that working with Canelo Alvarez, who came to the ring after the match, works well for the youngster.

The young boxer was on the verge of defeat but successfully overcame the adversity from the second round. At the time, Campbell’s hard right hook sent the 22-year old to the canvas. It was the first time in Garcia’s young but fantastic career that he had to go down during one official match.

Though, that left no consequences on the young American who got up and quickly regained control of the ring. He already had the initiative in the third round, and a chance to knock out the rival in the fifth. It was the bell that saved Campbell, following one left hook dazzled the former Olympic champion. He was on the ropes, but the luck was with him in this situation.

However, the inevitable came in the seventh round, with Campbell suffering the first stoppage loss since becoming a pro.

Garcia preserved his perfect record and is now aiming for bigger challenges. After the fight, he expressed a wish to meet the fellow American Gervonta Davis, the 26-year old who is unbeaten as well with a record of 24 wins, all but one coming via knockout.

The “Tank,” as the fans call him, is the WBA (regular) lightweight and WBA (Super) super featherweight champion. His last fight was on October 31, against the Mexican Leo Santa Cruz, whom he defeated via 6th round KO.

Even though neither of these guys has a major belt, the hype surrounding the idea of seeing their clash is enormous, and the potential fight would be one of the biggest next year.

There are several other possible opponents for Garcia, among them the former three-belt holder Vasyl Lomachenko who lost to Teofimo Lopez recently. Lopez is also in the mix, but it is hard to believe that the champion wants to pick Garcia at this moment. He is either after a rematch with Lomachenko or a clash for unification against the WBC champ, Devin Haney.
