He would post a victory via unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring in his favor, 50-45, 50-45, 49-46.

This is the sixth straight win for the French fighter in the UFC, and he became just one of few heavyweights who managed to start their adventure in the most prominent MMA organization in the world with six victories and without a defeat.

Others are Randy Couture, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, and Francis Ngannou, all of them champions.

Bon Gamin, as the fans call Gane (9-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), was superior in the ring, having recorded 135 significant strikes, the seventh most in the history of the division. Even though Volkov (33-9 MMA, 7-3 UFC) worked pretty well inside the octagon, Gane always came out as the winner from the exchanges.

The Russian gave 100% of his abilities, and he himself had 115 significant strikes, which is solid productivity, yet he couldn’t have the closing ones.

During the third round, Volkov’s face was all bloodied as Gane started to pressure the Russian with all sorts of combos. A flying knee delivered by the French hurt the opponent badly.

Even though he tried to change things in the octagon, Volkov couldn’t escape another defeat, his ninth in his career. The previous two were against Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes. At the moment, this loss is closing all the talks about his potential title fights for at least one more year, if not more.

Volkov’s two recent wins were against Walt Harris and Alistair Overeem, but losing against a direct rival for the title bout would move him back to the gatekeeper echelon.

On the other side, Gane reserved his place in the line for the title match. The current champion, Francis Ngannou, awaits to see who he fights next, Derrick Lewis or Jon Jones. After that, the following opponent should be Gane.

Bon Gamin himself stated after the battle that fighting Ngannou is something he expects in the near future. Various analysts believe that the French has the best prospects of defeating the Predator. The two were training partners previously, which gives Gane a certain edge over all other rivals the champion had.
