Kansas City Chiefs clinched a postseason berth with tonight’s victory over the Denver Broncos, 22-16.

After a very tough match that saw the Broncos resisting the reigning Super Bowl champions until the end of the game, Andy Reid’s team found a way to secure a victory that officially sent them to the playoffs for the sixth year in a row.

The Broncos got the football with 1:04 until the end, but Drew Lock couldn’t get it going, and on fourth-and-5, he would throw a pick to Tyrann Mathieu, which was the end of all hopes for the guests that they might make some last-moment surprise.
Denver needs to be credited for tonight’s battle, as they defied the Chiefs, especially their defense, that slowed down Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the crew. The former NFL MVP threw for just one touchdown, having 318 yards on 25 completions. That one TD was a go-ahead score in the late third, once Travis Kelce caught the football in the endzone, for a 20-yard hit. At that moment, the home team took the lead, 19-16.
The game saw a ferocious battle in the fourth, with just one scoring drive, that ended with Harrison Butker’s 48-yard field goal, just before Broncos’ headed for their last attack.
Drew Lock came back after missing last week’s match due to COVID-19, and he wasn’t particularly shinny, going for 151 yards, 15-for-28 for two touchdowns and interceptions each. Both of his scoring passes went towards Tim Patrick, who ended the night with 44 receiving yards and four receptions. Noah Fant also caught four passes for 57 yards.
Melvin Gordon was unstoppable with 15 rushes for 131 yards, the longest one 65 yards.

On the other side, Travis Kelce had 136 receiving yards on eight catches for one TD. He became the first tight end with five seasons with 1,000+ yards. Tyreek Hill had 58 yards, while Le’Veon Bell rushed for 40 yards on 11 snaps.
“Gonna enjoy this one for a night with the family. Then, from there, just focus on Miami,” Kelce stated.
Kansas City has an interesting match next Sunday, as they travel to Miami to visit the Dolphins. It is a very important contest for Reid’s team, as they can’t afford to lose it due to the race for the top spot of the AFC.
