The Miami Dolphins kept their playoff chances by eliminating the Las Vegas Raiders from the postseason contention, 26-25. Brian Flores’ team earned a spectacular victory with Ryan Fitzpatrick in the middle, as the veteran QB shined after entering the field in the last quarter.

“They don’t call him Fitzmagic for nothing,” Tua Tagovailoa stated following the game.

The Dolphins were facing a loss once the veteran threw a 34-yard pass to Mack Hollins. But while doing that, he was grabbed by the facemask and the Raiders received a 15-yard penalty. That play would set the Phins a 44-yard game-winning field goal, executed by Jason Sanders.

After the Miami Miracle, this was without a doubt the most shocking game that involved the Dolphins.

Fitzpatrick was superb in the last period, racking up almost twice as many yards as Tagovailoa, 182-94, both of them having one TD pass.

What made the loss even more painful for the Raiders is the fact that they had a win in their hands, but decided to run down the clock. First, Josh Jacobs deliberately went down at the one-yard line wanting to spend time. For the same reason Derek Carr took a knee on the third down, also one yard away from the end zone.

All these decisions came back like a boomerang.

Raiders are now out of the playoffs, even though they had a clear situation a few weeks ago. For Jon Gruden and the boys, this is arguably one of the worst experiences in their respective careers.

Carr was 21-for-34 for 336 yards for one scoring pass plus one rushing TD. His primary targets were Nelson Agholor, with five catches for 155 yards, one of them 85 yards long. The former Eagles’ WR had one TD reception. Darren Waller added another excellent game, with 112 yards on five receptions. Josh Jacobs ran 69 yards on 13 snaps.

On the other side, Myles Gaskin ran for 87 yards on 14 reps, but he also added 82 receiving yards for two touchdowns. Mike Gesicki had 54 yards through the air. Andrew van Ginkel led the defense with two sacks, two tackles for losses, and seven solo tackles.

The Dolphins (10-5) are meeting the Bills in cold Buffalo, and they need to win in order to be safe when it comes to a playoff appearance.

On the other side, the Raiders (7-8) end the campaign against the Denver Broncos at Mile High, in a match that doesn’t have any competitive significance.
