The 43-year old legend threw 348 yards in the first half, for four touchdowns, before head coach Bruce Arians decided to replace him. On top of that, he broke Tampa Bay’s single-season TD record held by Jameis Winston set during the previous year. Brady has 36 scoring tosses, three more than the current New Orleans Saints’ quarterback.
All four of Brady’s touchdown passes went to different receivers – Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown, which is superb for Arians, whose all offensive weapons did well in tonight’s contest. Also, Leonard Fournette added one four-yard rush into the endzone.
Brady and Gronk connected on the first drive, providing the 96th TD in their fantastic partnership. Gronk and Evans caught one more pass until the end after Blaine Gabbert’s throws. Arians decided that it is best for everyone that Brady sits out the entire second half because Tampa Bay had a 34-0 lead at the break.
Gabbert was 9-for-15 for 143 yards, and two TD passes. Evans had two TDs with 181 yards in 10 catches, Godwin 84 in five, and Gronk 58 in two.
Things for the Lions immediately became bad, with Matthew Stafford hurting his ankle, leaving the game early on. After that, Chase Daniel stepped on the pitch, but was replaced later with David Blugh. Neither of these guys provided a TD.
Jamal Agnew delivered the only score for the hosts, via a 74-yard punt return, which was one of the best moments of the matchup. There was not a single notable performance in the home team, worthy of mentioning.
The Lions will most likely undergo massive changes during the next offseason. With the new ownership and the structure of the board, we might expect radical moves, some of them suggesting moving away from Stafford and all the veterans. Right now, they are 5-10, and are closing the season against the Minnesota Vikings on January 3.-->
As for the Bucs (10-5), after 13 years of waiting, this team is in the playoffs again. Their last match of the campaign is at home, against the Atlanta Falcons, with whom they recently played on the road. That match ended with Tampa Bay’s comeback victory. 31-27.
