Younghoe Koo, the Falcons’ kicker, was the one who made the difference today, with four field goals, the longest 37 yards. Matt Ryan didn’t throw a single TD pass, recording 281 passing yards, 21-of-30, with one interception. However, he contributed a lot to his offense, with one rushing TD in the second period.
Julio Jones was, as usual, Ryan’s favorite target, with 137 yards in six catches. Hayden Hurst had 54 in five, and Calvin Ridley added 42 in three receptions before getting out due to an injury.
Todd Gurley had one running touchdown and 46 yards in 18 runs; Brian Hill added 55 on 11 snaps.
On the other side, Teddy Bridgewater had 176 yards through the air, for one TD and interception each. He briefly had to go out after one illegal hit received from DE Charles Harris, who was ejected because of that.

The above-mentioned Samuel had two scores, and 54 yards from the scrimmage. Mike Davis rushed for 66 yards on 13 carries, while DJ Moore caught 55 yards, and Robby Anderson 48.
Both sides had one turnover, and those were interceptions.
For Falcons, tonight’s win is a massive morale boost. They are far away from the playoffs, but at this point, the only thing that matters for them is to start winning, especially because of the new head coach, Raheem Morris.
Meanwhile, the Panthers had several solid games, playing above the expectations, but now, it seems that they slowly come back to old standards. They now have two very tough games ahead, against the Super Bowl champions, Chiefs on the road, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home.
