Once again, the Wilson-Metcalf connection brought the Seattle Seahawks a win, this time against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Pete Carroll’s guys beat the Eagles 23-17 at the Lincoln Financial Field, pulling away from the LA Rams at the NFC West’s top.

Even though the powerful wide receiver didn’t have a single touchdown in tonight’s match, his performance was the key to the Seahawks’ eighth victory of the year. Metcalf had 10 catches and 177 yards received and was unstoppable for the home team’s defense. The rest of the visiting team added 53 yards.

Seattle was leading 14-0 with David Moore’s receiving a one-yard TD pass from Wison, before Chris Carson ran for 16 yards, carrying the football into the endzone.
The Eagles scored a TD and a field goal, briefly coming down to 14-9, but Jason Myers took over from there, hitting three consecutive field goals for Seattle, who went to 23-9.
What many see as the match’s turning point, was Quandre Diggs’ interception with 8:40 left in the fourth, once he picked Carson Wentz in the endzone. The result at that point was 20-9.
Wentz was bad as usual, with only 215 yards against one of the worst passing defenses in the league, completing 25 of his 45 passing attempts for two touchdowns, one pick, and one fumble. Even though the media announced that Jalen Hurts might start instead of Wentz, that didn’t happen, with the rookie having just two snaps.
Eagles’ rushing game was equally terrible, with only 29 yards gained besides 42 Wentz himself ran. Dallas Goedert and Richard Rodgers each had a TD reception, with Goedert yielding 75 receiving yards and Rodgers 53.

Russell Wilson wasn’t in his best shape, but nevertheless, he had 230 passing yards for a TD. Chris Carson ran 8 times for 41 yards. Seattle’s defense posted 6 sacks on Wentz for 41 negative yards.
Pete Carroll’s crew now heads back home, where they have the next two games, both against the teams from New York. The first is against the Giants, followed by the meeting with the sorry Jets.
-->Philly lost first place in the NFC East, as they now sit at 3-7-1, half a game behind the Giants and the Washington Football Team. They will have three very challenging matches in the next few weeks. Eagles travel to Green Bay next Sunday, then host the New Orleans Saints before jumping to Glendale to face the Arizona Cardinals.
