One of the best defenders in the history of this sport announced the news on his Twitter account, posting a picture of him in Arizona’s shirt while lifting weights in the gym.

The Cards and Watt signed a two-year contract worth $31 million, with $23 million of that sum guaranteed. With this addition, the team from Glendale becomes one of the top favorites for winning the Super Bowl next year. With the already present core, Arizona becomes an elite team with Watt’s arrival.

Apart from having an excellent offensive unit, led by the former No.1 pick Kyler Murray, RB Kenyan Drake, WR Larry Fitzgerald, and the former Texan, DeAndre Hopkins, the defensive team will now be superb as well. Watt will form a ferocious duo with another elite pass-rusher, Chandler Jones, one of few people who might compare his stats with Watt’s. Them two playing together would change the balance of power in the entire league.

Even though he had multiple injuries during the past few years, that forced him to stay away from the field in many games while also limiting his overall impact, Watt is still one of the NFL’s dominant forces. It is no wonder why Cardinals decided to go after him, and do all the recruiting through multiple players who were in touch with the 32-year old.

Per several sources, Hopkins’ decision in this matter was crucial, with him calling Watt to join Arizona since the day the DE was released from the Texans.

After ten years spent at the NRG Stadium, the oldest of three Watt brothers decided to request a release from the team to pursue the Super Bowl title somewhere else. The Texans found themselves in a bad place with the team falling apart and another superstar Deshaun Watson, wanting to leave too. It became obvious that Houston has to undergo a challenging rebuild, meaning that the playoff, let alone a Super Bowl push, would impossible. That is why they couldn’t deny the wish of their icon.

Watt was a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, a five-time All-Pro, and five-time Pro Bowl. In 2012 and 2015, he led the league in sacks. His 2014 season was one of the best in the history for one defender, with Watt also playing on multiple positions, being a tight end in some contests, and scoring touchdowns.
