Dez Bryant has been signed to the Baltimore Ravens‘ 53-man roster this Saturday, which is the news that exploded throughout the NFL community.

The Ravens announced earlier today that they signed the veteran WR, who was only contracted to the practice squad. After this move, he is officially back to the NFL following a long pause.

Bryant will most definitely play against the Pittsburgh Steelers and his Dallas Cowboys, especially now when the Ravens have COVID-19 cases. The franchise from Maryland added the 32-year old to improve its receiving corps, because the current one is the second-worst in league with 1,184 yards and 94 catches. The Ravens have just six passing touchdowns, which is unacceptable for a team that wants to compete for the Super Bowl.

Ravens and Bryant attempted to strike a deal this summer, but the player’s physical condition was not at the desired level, which is why nothing happened. However, that didn’t discourage the former Dallas Cowboys’ player who came back in October and earned his place in the practice squad. As time went by, Jim Harbaugh slowly introduced Bryant to the first team, with the three-time Pro Bowler debuting against Indianapolis Colts for just two snaps.

In the last match against the Tennessee Titans, Bryant posted four receptions for 28 yards and was involved in more action, which was a sign for the Ravens to react and wrap up his deal.

Following his release from the Cowboys, Bryant signed a one-year deal with the Saints, but two days after that tore his Achilles tendon and had to skip the entire season. For the whole 2019, the player worked hard on his rehabilitation, suggesting that he won’t retire and that he plans to find a new team.

In eight seasons played with the Cowboys, Bryant was a three-time Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro in 2014. That was the year when he led the league in receiving touchdowns. In 115 games played in the NFL, Bryant racked 7,487 yards for 73 touchdowns and is considered one of the best wide receivers in the 2010s.

His arrival in Baltimore will be convenient for Harbaugh, whose team is experiencing struggles recently, and one of the reasons for that is its one-dimensional game. Ravens have been relying on running way too much this year, and Bryant will try to change that.
