D’Mitrik Trice made a go-ahead jumper with five seconds to go, giving his team a 65-64 lead. Wisconsin’s players fouled DJ Carton, who would make his first, but miss the second free throw. Fortunately for the Golden Eagles, Lewis made a very tough tip-in, with the ball going above his defender right onto his hand. The Golden Eagles forward had a quick reaction, which led to his team’s triumph.

This was the first win in the past five years over the top-five ranked team for the prominent school from Milwaukee.

The game was very tough right from the start, with both teams exchanging the lead several times throughout the event. Marquette had the edge during the majority of the second 20 minutes, but they couldn’t pull away from the Badgers, who were constantly close, or even up by a point or two.

When looking at the statistics, both teams were close in all the aspects of play, which is why it all came down to Lewis’ points.

He had a game-high with 18 points in 27 minutes, coming off the bench. Besides that, Lewis added 8 rebounds and two blocks, and was 6-for-10 from the field. DJ Carton scored 12 points with four rebounds and assists each, and three steals. He wasn’t very sharp when it comes to shooting, hitting just four of 13 shots from the floor. Jamal Cain scored 10 buckets.

On the other side, Trice scored 17 buckets, with six rebounds. Jonathan Davis had 12 with the same number of boards, and Nate Reuvers ended the night with 11.

The Badgers will host Louisville this Wednesday, while Marquette plays against Green Bay, one day earlier.
