Osaka will have a chance to win her fourth Grand Slam, second in Melbourne, after defeating one of the legendary figures of this sport, Serena Williams. Once again, the Japanese player showed her dominance against the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

She defeated Serena 2-0, 6-3, 6-4, snapping her quest towards the record-breaking no.24. The world No.3 finished its work in just 75 minutes, inflicting Williams the third defeat in the past four meetings.

To have a clear picture of her domination, there is one data that might tell you everything. Osaka broke Williams’ serve four times. This was her 20th straight victory, and she has a very good chance to win the second consecutive Grand Slam following US Open last season.

Serena took a 2-0 lead in the first set, but then experienced a hurricane coming from the other side, not having a solution for the opponent. The second sed saw both players using a breakpoint each to level themselves at 4-4, but Osaka made one more break and solved the match.

Her rival for the title will be Jennifer Brady, who defeated No.27 Karolina Muchova from the Czech Republic, 2-1, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Brady currently occupies 24th place in the WTA rankings, and this is the first finals of one Grand Slam tournament.

Brady had a favorable draw in Australia, not beating a single top 20 rival on her way up to this event. Muchova was the highest-placed rival.

Finally, Novak Djokovic secured another final here, defeating Aslan Karatsev, who was amazed all here in Australia. However, against inspired Novak, the Russian didn’t stand a chance, which is why Djokovic won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, posting his 20th consecutive win in Melbourne and making another step towards his ninth title at Arthur Ashe Arena.

Apart from a short period in the second set once Karatsev managed to come back from being 5-1 to 5-4, Novak didn’t have any trouble, and he pretty much routinely closed this event. The fans had a chance to see several fantastic rallies from which Djokovic came out as the winner, but Karatsev as well had a lot to show, even though he couldn’t respond to Novak’s attacks in the majority of the situations.
