Uriah Hall defeated Anderson Silva last night via TKO in the fourth round of their contest, which was the main event at the UFC Fight Night 181.

The 36-year old Hall (16-9 MMA, 9-7 UFC) knocked out the 45-year old legend after punches at 1:24 inside Round 4, to probably finish his masterful career. Over the last several years, Silva (34-11 MMA, 17-7 UFC) continued fighting even though he posted loss after loss, damaging his career and his legacy, which is probably one of the biggest if not the biggest in the entire MMA.

According to many, he fought without any particular reasons in the last six or seven years, posting numerous defeats throughout that time, some of them pretty nasty, like the one against Jared Cannonier.

Regarding tonight’s fight, there was nothing unexpected to see. Both fighters were cautious, but Silva’s age started slowing down the Brazilian as time went by. Following a solid first and second round in which he competed with Hall, and was even better in certain sequences, he would slowly start to fade in the third.

In the closing moments of the same, Hall’s hard right hand sent the Spider to the ground, and once the Jamaican started working on finishing the bout. The end of the round saved the Brazilian, but not for too long.

Following a mild and quiet start of the fourth, Hall once again used his right hand to send Silva to the canvas, only this time there was no chance for the Prime Time not to terminate the match. Immediately following the stoppage, Hall went on his knees and started apologizing to Silva, telling the rival that he started fighting in the first place because of him.

For him, this was the third straight triumph, and fourth over the previous five, and many expect to see him against a top contender in the next event. That would be the last chance for Hall to force a title match, as he too approaches the end of his career.

Silva probably had his last fight in the UFC. He was talking about that at the press, and even though he stated some words later this Saturday, which indicated that he wishes to continue fighting, it seems that a match with Hall was the end of the road for the magical Brazilian. Even Dana White admitted that to the journalists.
