Svensson netted in the third minute of the stoppage time, following one corner-kick that saw him delivering a header that brought tears to Minnesota’s players and indescribable joy among the hosts. It is safe to say that the Sounders made one of the best and biggest comebacks in the MLS Cup Playoffs history.

Less than 20 minutes before this, the hosts were down two goals looking like a wobbling boxer wandering around the ring.

Minnesota reached the lead just before the half-hour mark, with Emanuel Reynoso’s superb free-kick hitting the back of the net. Seattle’s goalkeeper Stefan Frei couldn’t do anything in this case, as the Argentinian midfielder aimed almost perfectly.

It was 2-0 for United, with Bakaye Dibassy heading the ball into the goal in the 67th minute, with Reynoso assisting from a free-kick.

However, the champions’ return started in the 75th minute, once Will Bruin broke the lock of the United’s defense. The guy who would enter from the bench earlier had a quick response following one save of Minnesota’s goalkeeper, quickly reacting and cutting the lead. It turned out to be a massive morale boost for the Sounders, who went berserk from that moment.

One minute before the end of the regulations, Raul Ruidiaz finally slotted the ball into the net, making the result leveled but creating a massive momentum among the home players. It was a corner kick that saw the No.9 alone on the far post, with the ball reaching up to him before the Peruvian forward put it behind the goal line.

Svensson’s score caused a delirium, and we can only imagine what Lumen Field would look like if there were fans involved in this matchup.
