According to the sources in France, soccer superstar Neymar is positive for COVID-19. The Brazilian will be absent from the field for some time.

He caught the infection during his vacation in Ibiza, along with two other teammates from Paris Saint Germain – Leandro Paredes and Anhel Di Maria.

The bad news arrived this morning, once the results from testing came back positive. PSG’s No.10 now has to be in self-isolation for two weeks and needs to follow all the safety protocols and guidelines. The same applies to Di Maria and Paredes.

If, by any chance, one more player from the Champions League runners-up tests positive, their next match will be postponed, because of Ligue 1 rules. If four players from one team have Corona, their contest is postponed. That happened with Marseille in the opening round against Saint Etienne.

PSG meets Lens in their first match of the French championship, on September 10, and three days later, they have the big derby against Marseille. Neymar won’t be ready for either of them according to the sources from the club.

This news comes following today’s announcement that former Italian prime minister and AC Milan owner, Silvio Berlusconi, also tested positive. A few days back, Manchester’s Paul Pogba also had the same situation, and he had to withdraw from the national team.

Neymar’s future at the club wasn’t too bright at one point, some two years ago, but he eventually found his place and settled down. Even though he failed to show up in the most important games of the Champions League, where fans openly criticized his performances, there wasn’t any talk about his departure or anything like that.

Furthermore, he tried to recruit his former teammate from Barcelona, Lionel Messi, who decided to leave Camp Nou. Apparently, the Argentinian and the Brazilian had a phone call where Neymar proposed Messi to come and join him in Paris.

Earlier last week, the rumors appeared that the Saints were pursuing Luis Suarez, who also played with Neymar in the attack, and was a part of the fantastic MSN trio.

As we said, the biggest issue in Paris now is the players’ health because of the “four players” rule. All of PSG’s members will be tested once more, including the three infected once, just in case.
