In the EPL derby of the day, Manchester City rolled over Liverpool, hammering the new champions with 4-0. It was one pretty unexpected outcome, which surprised millions of fans all over the world.

Even though many expected to see a high-scoring affair, just a few believed that City might humiliate the champions in this way.

It is by far their most devastating loss of the year, and it came at the moment when they secured the title, and needed to confirm it against their biggest rivals. However, after such an outcome, there will be plenty of those who are going to dispute Reds’ success.

The guy who created the most troubles to the guests was their former player, Raheem Sterling. He scored one goal tonight, setting up two more, and was unstoppable for Liverpool’s back line. Sterling’s domination was that big, that Jurgen Klopp had to change Joe Gomez after he failed to provide decent resistance to City’s winger.

The first goal came after Gomez brought down Sterling in the box, with the referee awarding a penalty to the home team. Kevin de Bruyne, as usual, didn’t have any trouble in converting the same.

Shortly after that, Sterling himself scored, and eventually, he assisted Phil Foden, just before the halftime. The one more goal was an own score by Oxlade-Chamberlain.

This was a terrible experience for Liverpool, who was crowned last week after City lost against Chelsea on the road, 2-1. Before the game, hosts’ players welcomed the visitors and provided them with a guard of honor. But that appeared to be just another motive for Guardiola’s guys.

No doubt, this win will be a massive boost for them, as they have more challenges coming up very soon. At first, they play in the semifinals of the FA Cup against Arsenal in two weeks, and after that have the Champions League obligations. That should start early August, with the note, that City has to face Real Madrid, in the rematch. The first game ended 1-2 at Bernabeu, meaning that the Sky-Blues have a nice chance to advance to the semifinals.

On the other side, Liverpool only has to finish the EPL campaign.
