PSG eliminated Bayern Munich and avenged the last year’s loss in the Champions League finals. The Saints did suffer a defeat at home tonight but proceeded on aggregate.

In the second matchup of the night, Chelsea and Porto played without goals, but the English side earned a ticket to the next phase also on aggregate.
Bayern won 0-1 in France, but that wasn’t enough for the most recent UCL champions to continue their adventure in this competition. The first leg saw PSG winning in Germany, 2-3. Even though Bayern played better than the home team and had more chances, the Bavarians weren’t cohesive in the finish, wasting a few nice opportunities for netting.

Leroy Sane’s selfishness was one of the main problems for Hansi Flick’s crew, who came to Paris massacred with injuries. The pacey winger was ofter in a position from which he could make an assist, but didn’t have any desire to share the football with anyone.
The only goal for the guests was scored by Eric Chuopo Moting, five minutes before halftime. Bayern was dominant in the second half, while PSG waited for its chance to score from the counter-attack.
They had several of them, but like Bayern, they too had problems with selfish players -Neymar. After missing three dead chances in the first half, the Brazilian spoiled several solid attacks of the home team, not wanting to pass the ball to its teammates, and putting the Saints in an awkward position.
Luckily for the home unit, the punishment from the other side didn’t come.
In the second game of the night, Porto defeated Chelsea 0-1 at the neutral venue in Sevilla, but that wasn’t enough for the Dragons to advance to the next stage, due to a 2-0 loss in the opening leg. The only scorer in this encounter was Mehdi Taremi in the third minute of the stoppage time.
As expected, Tomas Tuchel set up a very conservative gameplan, that saw the Blues closing all the paths to their net, focusing on quick transition and counter-attacks.
Porto didn’t have some notable chances, and to be honest, they didn’t deserve to eliminate the London club.
