Raheem Mostert and the San Francisco 49ers failed to find a mutual language regarding their new deal. After experiencing these sorts of trouble, the player decided to request a trade and find his luck in some other place.

The player’s agent, Brett Tessler, revealed the news, sharing it via a Twitter account. Tessler would add that the team didn’t want to adjust to Mostert’s demands, which were the reason for his abrupt reaction.

Mostert was the no.1 in the league in yards per carry, and he proved to be the best when needed the most when talking about the performances on the field.

He was excellent in the playoffs with 336 yards in three matches, and five TDs. Four of them were against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game, which his team won 37-20. By far, he was the central figure of that event. Apart from four TDs, Mostert had 220 yards on 29 carries, posting a franchise record in rushing yards in one playoff event.

The 28-year old journeyman who found his place in San Francisco in 2016, has twp more years on his contract. In the 2020 campaign, the 49ers should pay him $2.575 million and the year after $2.875.

Of course, if he continues to deliver such performances, this would be a humiliating offer for Mostert. Especially once seeing the salaries of all other running backs in the San Francisco – McKinnon’s $7.5 million, Juszczyk’s $5.25 million and Coleman’s $4.25 million.

Mostert hoped to see his status improving following a very good year in which San Francisco reached the Super Bowl, partially because of his excellent games. Also, after trading Matt Breida to Miami, a logical step for Kyle Shanahan and his staff was to use more money on Mostert, but apparently, that won’t happen.

Still, with the current situation in the NFL and the fact that there is a long period before the start of the season, we might see some different ending.

Mostert was an undrafted agent in the 2015 draft, picked by the Eagles. He would be in the practice squad only, before going to Miami, Baltimore, and Cleveland, All this in 2015. Then in 2016, he trained with the Jets, and after that went to Chicago, before settling in California.
