Sam Darnold will be the starter for the New York Jets in their game against the divisional rivals, Miami Dolphins. According to the Jets’ head coach Adam Gase, Darnold is ready and recovered following the injuries that separated him from the field in the past several weeks.

The third pick from the NFL’s 2018 draft missed four of the previous six matches after picking an AC joint sprain in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos. He would come back two weeks later, playing against the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs, before suffering a shoulder injury.

Darnold had to skip two games after that, but now, the 23-year old feels better, and he endured all the practices without any problems. There were some doubts about whether is his shoulder ready, but all that is cleared now.
So far this year, Darnold was terrible, being at the bottom of the QB list, which shows the Total QBR, with a lousy 39.5. He posted 1,045 yards in six matches, 112-for-119, with three touchdowns and six interceptions, suffering 19 sacks. Darnold would run for 138 yards and one score, too.
The circumstances for the young QB will be much better now, as all the Jets’ key players in the offense are finally healthy, which wasn’t the case earlier. All three wide receivers Breshad Perriman, Jamison Crowder, and Denzel Mims, are ready to roll.
Darnold’s comeback means that the former Super Bowl MVP champion, Joe Flacco, moves to the sidelines. The veteran played five games this year, recording 864 yards for six touchdowns and three interceptions. With him in the lineup, the Jets were looking much better, and in some matches, even had a chance to win.

According to many, this will be Darnold’s last chance to prove that he is not a bust. If he doesn’t fulfill the expectations, the Jets will most definitely move on from him at the end of the season and shift their focus on Trevor Lawrence, if Clemson’s QB decides to declare himself ready for the draft.
So far, Darnold was a massive disappointment. He wasn’t able to adjust to the NFL’s level of play, and it seems that he made a step backward compared to the previous year. Many suggest that it is due to Gase’s poor coaching, but the vast majority simply doesn’t believe in the player’s quality.
