Fields’ Magic

Justin Field suffered a major hit during the first half of the Sugar Bowl against the Tigers, and it seemed that he might have to sit out the remainder of the event. Instead, he came back, posting one of the most memorable performances in the CFP history.

Fields had 385 passing yards, one interception, and six TD passes, two of them superb – 56 and 45 yards. After this match, the young quarterback cemented his place among the lottery picks in the upcoming NFL draft.

Two more guys who definitely boosted their stocks ahead of the same, are running back Trey Sermon, who ran 31 times for 193 yards and a TD, and Chris Olave, catching 132 yards for two receiving TDs.

The projected No.1 pick, Trevor Lawrence, threw 400 yards but for just two TDs and one pick, fumbling the football three times, and not moving his offense as usual. One of the biggest reasons for that was Travis Etienne’s poor performance, with Clemson’s dual-threat RB having just 32 rushing yards on 10 carries and 64 receiving on four catches.

Roll Tide Routinely vs. Notre Dame

Mac Jones was close to perfect with four TD passes and 297 yards for his Alabama, but two guys who were trashing Notre Dame’s defense were Njaee Harris and Devonta Smith. Harris ran for 125 yards, jumping over the opponents, while Smith delivered three scores and 130 yards through the air.

The top-seeded crew was confident, showing no emotion, and keeping the same pace from the start until the end of this Rose Bowl. It was all business for Nick Saban’s boys. They have the football seven minutes fewer in their possession, not making a single mistake.

On the other side, the Fighting Irish were good, and they recorded just one turnover, but simply couldn’t do anything against a better team on the field.

Ian Book ended the contest with 229 yards, one pick, and one rushing TD. He and Kyren Williams were the only ones who scored for the No.4.

The CFP championship game takes place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on January 11 at 8 pm ET. ESPN and the ESPN app will broadcast this spectacle.
