Giannis Antotekounmpo won the All-Star MVP award tonight, leading Team LeBron to a win over Team Durant, 170-150.

The Greek Freak as the fans call him, and the reigning NBA MVP played 19 minutes, scoring 35 buckets without a missed shot from the field, 16-for-16. This is the most efficient performance in the All-Star game’s history, which is why the Bucks’ forward got the award.

Giannis even hit three downtown shots, completely dominating the floor in less than two quarters. This is his first MVP award in ASG, and a boost of morale before the second part of the season.
Team LeBron made the key difference late in the second with a 27-8 run that saw them getting a 20-point lead, which they held until the end of the game. Team Durant entered the final 12 minutes with a 21-point minus, meaning that they needed to score 45 points before the rivals hit the 24-point mark, but they weren’t even close to that achievement.
Damian Lillard had 32 for the winning side, Steph Curry 28. For the losers, Bradley Beal scored 26, Kyrie Irving 24 and James Harden 21.
Curry would win the three-point shooting contest, his second in his career. The Warriors’ guard was better than Jazz‘s Mike Conley in the final, 28-27, with him beating the opponent with the last shot. Curry hit the moneyball, which brings two points, destroying Conley’s hopes for getting the trophy back to Salt Lake City.
He is now just one of seven players who won the three-point shooting on multiple occasions, proving that the last year’s absence is way behind him.
The Slam Dunk contest was also interesting and exciting. In order to get the winner, we had to see a new rule applied. “Judge’s Choice” demands from the judges not to grade the dunk but to directly chose which one is better. Anfernee Simons and Obi Toppin met in the finals, and the Trail Blazers’ player edged out the Knicks’ rookie with three votes to two.
Simons tried to kiss the rim while dunking, and even though he didn’t actually make contact, his dunk was pretty impressive.

Domantas Sabonis won the Skills Challenge, beating Nikola Vucevic for an inch, managing to hit the three-pointer before the Magic’s center. Two big guys went toe to toe in the final of this competition, making it pretty exciting as well.
