A little bit over 17,000 lucky fans able to watch this matchup at AT&T Stadium in Texas, saw one-sided domination of Lincoln Riley’s team. They used the fact that Gators have problems and are short of 17 players for various reasons, winning the Cotton Bowl, to end a season that started rough for them.
The Sooners had a jump start, reaching a 17-0 lead until the middle of the first period. They would score on the opening drive of the night, before Tren Norwood’s pick-six some half a minute later.

The shorthanded Gators, who were without TE Kyle Pittis, WR Jacob Copeland, and several other valuable players, tried to come back, scoring 13 consecutive points, but after that lost pace and fell before the roaring Sooners who were already up 31-13 at the halftime.
It needs to be said that this isn’t the realistic picture of Florida‘s team due to the above-mentioned absences. Some players, like Pittis, opt-out from playing to prepare for the NFL draft, while others had COVID-19 infections. It is something that severely decreased the Gators’ quality.
Yet that didn’t slow down the Sooners, who relentlessly continued to pound and punish the Gators, adding three more touchdowns in the second half.
Oklahoma’s QB Spencer Rattler threw 247 yards for three touchdowns, rushing for one as well. Rhamondre Stevenson had one rushing TD, too, with 186 yards, while Marcus Major added 110 yards on the ground for one score as well. Overall, the Sooners ended the night with 435 yards on 40 carries, an astonishing figure.

Florida’s QB Kyle Trask didn’t record a single TD pass, having three of his tosses intercepted. He ended the night with 158 passing and 0 rushing yards. The Heisman Trophy finalist didn’t have a nice farewell from college, experiencing one of the worst nights of his career so far. He is expected to be in the first round of the upcoming draft, despite this lousy performance.
