Trevor Lawrence and his fellow quarterbacks were in the middle of attention at tonight’s NFL draft. Lawrence went first, and four more quarterbacks were taken until the 15th pick.

Lawrence, the biggest football sensation in the past decade, was, as predicted, picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the No.1 choice. The Jags also added running back Travis Etienne, Lawrence’s teammate from Clemson and arguably the best running back in the class.

This is the start of a new era for the team from Florida, who used to have a very talented and promising unit a few years ago. That crew reached the AFC Championship Game but eventually failed to continue with its progress. With these two rookies and the new head coach Urban Meyer, Jags’ fans hope to see the mistakes from the past erased and the rise of their franchise.

Zach Wilson from BYU went second, picked by the New York Jets, who are trying to find a quarterback capable of providing some progress that would move the Jets from the bottom of the AFC Conference. After Sam Darnold’s unsuccessful adventure, Wilson is the newest prospect and hope for this franchise.

San Francisco apparently isn’t trusting Jimmy Garoppolo anymore, which is why they decided to trade up for the No.3 pick, which was later used for Trey Lance, North Dakota State’s QB. Lance, a 20-year old, had just 17 starts in college, but during that short time, managed to impress all the scouts and NFL head coaches.

On the other side, Garoppolo will have a tough year, which might be crucial in his career.

Atlanta Falcons picked TE Kyle Pittis from Florida fourth, Ja’Marr Chase Wr from LSU went fifth to Cincinnati, reuniting with Joe Burrow.

The Chicago Bears have done an extremely big and important job tonight, taking Ohio State’s Justin Fields, the second-best quarterback at this draft per various scouts. The team from Soldier Field made a trade to reach the 11th pick, which was later used for Fields’ selection.

The Bears have one of the best teams in the league, but their QB position has been problematic in the past, with Mithce Trubisky failing to deliver, the same as Nick Foles, who was added last year.

Chicago signed Andy Dalton to a one-year deal recently, and it is clear that they want to use the veteran as a temporary solution before Fields takes over the starting spot.

And finally, the New England Patriots did the same thing as the Bears, locking Mac Jones, who went 15th. The Alabama quarterback, and the national champion this season, will play under Bill Belichick, who wanted to find a long-term solution at this position.
