Carson Wentz and his Philadelphia Eagles made a superb rally in the last five minutes of the game against the New York Giants. Philly would win this Thursday Night Football with 22-21, taking the top position in the NFC East.

The Eagles were down 21-10 with 6:17 to go, once Sterling Shepard caught a two-yard TD pass from Daniel Jones, inside the end zone.

From that moment on, the hosts scored two touchdowns, forced the Giants to punt, and to fumble the football. All this would earn then a second win of the year and first place in the division.

Greg Ward’s three-yard reception with 4:38 cut the deficit to 21-16, with the note that Carson Wentz’s rush on a two-point conversion failed. Philly’s QB found Boston Scott for an 18-yard score 40 seconds before the end, and again after that, the Eagles didn’t manage to make a two-point conversion. Still, they had a 22-21 lead.

Philadelphia’s defense put an end to this game, once Brandon Graham sacked Danel Jones’ forcing him to fumble the ball, with Vinny Curry recovering the same.

The Giants had a nice sequence in the third and start of the fourth with two TDs, one from Wayne Gallman, who rushed for one yard, and the above-mentioned Sterling Shepard’s. The key moment of the match was when Evan Engram dropped what was supposed to be a sure catch on Giants’ third-and-7 with 2:14 to go. After that, they had to punt the ball, and the Eagles scored.

Daniel Jones had 187 passing yards, 20-of-30 for two scores and one interception, suffering three sacks. However, Jones had 92 rushing yards on four carries, one of them 80-yards long when he tripped with the wide-open road to the end zone.

Sterling Shepard had a TD and 59 receiving yards, Engram added 46, while Golden Tate also had one TD from his only one reception, 39-yards long.

On the other side, Wentz threw for 359 yards, two TDs, and one interception. Wentz would rush for one TD on the first drive of the night. Richard Rodgers had 85 yards through the air, Travis Fulgham 73, and John Hightower 59.

Eagles (2-4-1) meet their biggest rivals for the first place in this division, the Dallas Cowboys, next week. After that, and a week bye, Philly travels to New York to face the Giants once again.
