Rajon Rondo showed that TD Garden is still his place. The guy who won the championship here some 11 years ago, hit the game-winning basket with the sound of a buzzer and lifted his Lakers to a one-point win against the Celtics, 129-128.

This couldn’t be a better response for the purple and gold after being humiliated in Indiana two days ago. Back then Lakers lost by 42 points.

Rondo picked up the ball, after Al Horford rejected Brandon Ingram’s shot and executed from some 20 feet of the glass.

The Celtics opened the game good, and since the middle of the first period, started building their lead which eventually rose up to nine points at the end of that period, 34-25. Then they made a 10-0 run in the second period which lifted gave them 18 buckets of advantage, which didn’t last for long as Lakers started to claw their way back into the game before the break.

And from the middle of the third sequence, we had one very interesting and intense match. Both teams were changing the lead, and each possession was very demanding.

Kyrie and LeBron had a clash of their own at one moment, exchanging threes and big-time moves, giving special note to this event. In the end, Lakers turned the game around despite being down six points with 80 seconds to go. Caldwell-Pope and  James hit downtown shots to even the teams. A bit later Irving gave the Celts a one-point lead, which was erased by Rondo’s late dagger.

James had a triple-double, 28 points, and 12 boards and assists apiece, Kuzma was right behind him with 25, and these two scored 5 three-pointers each. Rondo finished with a double-double 17 points and 10 assists. McGee and Caldwell-Pope also had 17 buckets.

For the hosts, Kyrie ended with a team-high 24 points shooting only 6 of 21 from the field. Uncle Drew posted 8 assists and 7 boards also. Jason Tatum contributed with a double-double, 22 points, and 10 boards, while Daniel Theis had an excellent role of the bench with 20 points, missing only two of his 11 attempts.
