NHL Playoffs: Boston Bruins Sweep Carolina Hurricanes And Advance To The Stanley Cup Finals, 4-0

The Boston Bruins have reached the Stanley Cup finals. They defeated Carolina Hurricanes last night, and swept the guys from Raleigh, leaving a strong impression.

Boston posted a 4-0 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals, and now waits for the better from Sharks vs Blues matchup in the West.

After an opening period in which neither of the sides scored, the guests used one powerplay in the second to reach the lead. Hurricanes made a mistake and had too many players on the ice, and just 18 seconds after the penalty, David Pastrnak scored. Brad Marchand posted an assist, and Pastrnak just tapped the puck into the goal.

Bruins scored off another powerplay. Greg McKegg had to go out because of interference, and this time Pastrnak was the one who assisted. Patrice Bergeron was the executor with 1:26 left until the end of the sequence.

The same combination provided goal No.3 for the guests. Bergeron and Pastrnak combined in front of Hurricanes’ net, and eventually, Pastrnak found his teammate at the far left post and had no problems of scoring his second of the match. It was the middle of the final period, 9:28 to go to be exact.

Rob Brind’Amour and his side didn’t want to end this game and the entire series without a scored goal. They pulled Curtis McElhinney off the ice to have an extra attacker, but that only resulted with another puck in their net.

It was Brad Marchand who sealed this series, 2:17 before the end.

Unfortunately for the hosts, they couldn’t score, leaving Tuukka Rask with another excellent performance in which he had 24 saves.

This was the seventh straight victory for the Bruins, who eliminated Maple Leafs in the opening round with 4-3, and after that beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2. Boston has a few days more to rest than their rivals in the Stanley Cup finals, and already has some kind of an edge in that matchup.

As for the Hurricanes, they eliminated the champions Washington Capitals in the opening round. It was a seven-game thriller, after which Brind’Amour guys easily swept New York Islander in the conference semifinals.
