The Chicago Bears won the match against the Detroit Lions, in the first event of the Thanksgiving programme. The opening game of the Week 12 ended in favor of the guests 23-16, in a clash which was decided by the Bears defense.
Mitch Trubisky was ineligible for this meeting, and most of the fans feared because of this handicap. But Chase Daniels filled in that spot, and performed very well, posting 230 yards, and 2 touchdowns with 27 completions in 37 attempts. He did a very good job replacing the injured starting quarterback, leading his team to one very important win. Daniels found Tarik Cohen and Taquan Mizzell for the sole two offensive touchdowns, proving that he has enough quality to play at this level.
On the other side, the 1st overall pick from the 2009 NFL Draft, Matthew Stafford, was totally out of the game. He threw 236 yards, 28 of 38, without a single TD pass, and with 2 interceptions.
Six minutes before the end, with the result 16-16, Stafford’s pass was intercepted by Eddie Jackson who made a 41-yard return for a touchdown, pushing his team towards another win. It was Stafford’s fifth interception in the last year, and also the fifth one for the Bears defense since the season started.

Detroit had a chance to reach the overtimes since they had the ball in the last possession. Stafford’s pass towards Theo Riddick has been intercepted, as Kyle Fuller reacted impeccably and took the football.
LeGarrette Blount played the best game of the season with 133 yards from scrimmage and two TD rushes. He collected 88 yards on the ground, carrying the ball 19 times. Still, he alone wasn’t enough for the home team to do something bigger.
This triumph pushed the Bears towards the NFC North title, as they now have 8 wins and 3 losses. Chicago is three wins ahead of Minnesota, who is second-placed in that division.
Matt Nagy’s troops are traveling to New York to meet with the Giants in the next round, and after that one, they host the LA Rams, in what seems to be the most exciting contest of the round.
As for the Lions, they will host the Rams in the upcoming week and then travel to Arizona.
