Colorado Rapids Make The Worst Start In The MLS History, 11 Games Without A Win

Colorado Rapids lost last night against the Real Salt Lake with 2-3 at home, tying the worst ever start in the MLS championship.

After 11 rounds of soccer, Rapids have 9 losses, and only 2 draws, reaching Salt Lake’s start from the season 2007 when they also had 11 straight games without a victory. But what separates these two generations, is the fact that Real had fewer defeats, 6 along with 5 draws. This was also Colorado’s 8th consecutive defeat.

The guests had a 0-2 lead after 27 minutes of play. It was the 25th minute when Sebastian Anderson made a reckless challenge on Sebastian Saucedo inside the box. For the moment the referee didn’t know what to do, but after reviewing the VAR system, he pointed towards the penalty spot.

Albert Rusnak beat Tim Howard and brought the lead to his team.

Just two minutes later, Corey Baird doubled the lead. The reigning Rookie of the year scored one of the nicer goals in this campaign.

Justen Glad received a red card in the 33rd minute, but after checking the VAR, the official revoked his decision, and the hosts remained with 11 players on the pitch.

The hosts decreased Real’s lead In the third minute of the injury time in the first half. It was Kellyn Acosta who netted, and that was an initial spark for the hosts who immediately leveled the score when the second half began.

Two minutes after the kick-off, Danny Wilson scored following a corner. The game went wild in the next 15 minutes.

Sam Johnson brought back the lead to the guests in the 50th minute, rushing in the box and using Damir Kreilach’s pass.

Some nine minutes after that the home team had a chance to tie once again when Donny Toia brought down Sam Nicholson inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty to Colorado.

Kei Kamara who scored seven goals so far this season was inexplicably bad from the spot, and Andrew Putna easily saved his shot.

The guests kept this result until the end of the game, and posted their fourth triumph of the season. They are now eight in the West with 13 points in 11 games. Colorado is dead last with just 2 points in the same number of matches.
