Manchester City Near the Title, Defeat Leicester With Kompany’s Miracle, 1-0

Manchester City is near their fourth Premiership title after tonight’s win against Leicester City, 1-0. The hosts defeated Foxes at Etihad Stadium and made one step towards their second consecutive title, which will be some sort of consolation after a failure in the Champions League.

Sky-Blues were trying to break Leicester’s lock for 70 minutes before Vincent Kompany scored after a screamer from some 27 yards.

Veteran center-back headed towards the opponent’s goal, without having any one of his teammates open. The Belgian international decided to try his luck, and he scored one of the most beautiful goals of the season. The fans at the Etihad Stadium were in heaven.

Following his strike, there was no hope for goalkeeper Schmeichel. The ball was so fast and accurate that two goalies wouldn’t stop it.

Up until that point, Leicester defended very well, and Man City’s players felt a little bit frustrated because of all that. They had a few chances in the first half, but none of them were serious except for Aguero’s effort in the late part of that contest.

The Argentinian sent a header after a corner kick, and Schmeichel pushed off the ball into the bar, after which it deflected outside. For a brief moment, it looked that the ball passed the goal line. It was reviewed later, and the initial decision got a confirmation.

Man City came into the second halftime with the same intensity Gundogan, Aguero, Bernardo Silva, all of them had excellent chances. Aguero’s was the best when he turned up in front of Schmeichel and almost beat the Danish international.

Somehow the son of one of the best goalkeepers ever, diverted the ball into the corner.

After the conceded goal, Leicester tried to level the score, but that wasn’t possible.

Kelech Ihenacho didn’t use the chance of the game for his team. He also had a clear one-on-one situation, but it seems that he choked when needed the most.

Manchester City goes to Brighton in the final round. The Seagulls stayed in the Premiership, and are awaiting the Citizens relaxed.

Right now, Manchester City has one more point than Liverpool in the standings.
