Duke fans (and basketball fans for that matter) have had a couple days since Zion Williamson’s injury to calm down about the loss of their star. The Blue Devils bounced back from the UNC loss to defeat Syracuse.

Tonight, the Blue Devils will look to keep rolling against the Virginia Tech Hokies. Williamson missed their last game against Syracuse and that looks to be the same for tonight. Dealing with a knee sprain, the Blue Devils are hopeful he’ll return to action soon as they prepare for March Madness.

While the Blue Devils continue to list Williamson as day-to-day, many believe that it’s time for Zion to hang up his busted Nike’s and focus on his professional career. Already dealing with a knee injury, Williamson wouldn’t want another injury during his college career that would hinder his opportunity in the NBA. Still, Duke and Williamson himself say that he loves being at the school and wants to play with the team moving forward.

Williamson’s absence wasn’t a problem for Duke in their last game. R.J. Barrett stepped up and dropped 30 on the Syracuse Orange, while Alex O’Connell dropped 20 on Syracuse.

The Hokies are 3-3 in their last six games. Virginia Tech lost to Louisville and Virginia in their last two games against ranked opponents. Overall, the Hokies have not done well against ranked opponents. Of their two wins against ranked opponents, only two of them have been wins (in six games). Those wins were against teams not in the top 20 of the AP Polls. Virginia Tech enters tonight ranked 20th in the nation wile Duke are ranked 3rd.

Tonight will be the first and only meeting between Virginia Tech and Duke in the regular season.

Virginia Tech have not fallen out of the AP Top 25, but they are starting to slide. Starting the season ranked 14th, they managed to win their way to 9th in the nation. Since then, they have slowly slipped as far down as 22nd in the polls.

Virginia Tech have the 9th best defense in the NCAA, allowing just 61.1 points against per game. Will it be enough to stop Duke?
