Forget all the surprises you’ve seen this season because we have a winner. Manchester United defeated Paris Saint-Germain despite all odds, and eliminated the French titleholder from the Champions League.
It was 1-3 for the Red Devils’ whose Marcus Rashford scored from a penalty, some half a minute before the end of the injury time. He equalized the aggregate score to 3-3, but the guests from England had the edge because of more netted goals on the road.

The referee Damir Skomina had to use VAR system before pointing to the penalty spot. It was Presnel Kimpembe who handballed in the box and made it possible for Rashford to execute a shocker.
But nothing indicated this kind of scenario. United came to Paris with 9 players from the starting lineup injured or suspended, and unable to play at Parc des Princes. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to adjust to all the adversities, and the Norwegian manager did the best possible job.
Though, he did have a huge help from PSG’s players. The first two goals United netted, came after mistakes of the hosts.
Thilo Kehrer made the first one after only two minutes of play, when he tried to pass the ball to one of his teammates in the back line. Romelu Lukaku jumped out of nowhere, stole the ball and rounded Buffon for 0-1.
That was a signal for the French team to start pressuring immediately, and their approach paid off 10 minutes after Lukaku’s opener. Danny Alves and Mbappe combined well on the right side, setting up the goal to Bernat after a precise low pass to the far post.
PSG continued in the same rhythm, and it seemed that it is just a matter of time before they strike again.
After 30 minutes of play, Marcus Rashford decided to try out his luck from a distance, and his shot was deflected by Buffon. Unfortunately for the legendary Italian, the ball went straight to Lukaku who was merciless.

The game went on with United being cautious and primarily defensive-minded, but constantly threatening through counter-attacks. PSG was happy with the result and their intensity of play significantly dropped.
Bernat had one chance in the 84th minute, but his shot ended on the post.
After Rashford’s penalty, PSG didn’t have enough time to respond, and their dreams about the UCL title disappeared.
